Released August 8, 2025, The White Tomato was Devin’s first album after a break of several years due to what he called “Covid-induced writers block.” What had begun years earlier as an EP intended for his alter-ego, Mannifred LaCroix, was dusted off, re-imagined and added to, ultimately becoming Devin’s fourth album of original songs.

During the initial Covid-19 stay-at-home orders in 2020, Devin undertook a project to organize and update some of his songs released over the past decade and released his first compilation album, “Recollection: 2010-2020” on a 2-disc CD set. Disc one contains “singles” and Disc 2 contains b-sides and rarities. Songs that had originally been recorded with The Traitors for the album “Mixed Signals” and the EP “Spectres” were reworked and remixed, and side projects like Devin’s vocal contribution to Sphat-90’s “Could This Be Heaven” and his entry into a songwriting competition put on by the city of West Hollywood, “Stomping Ground,” appear here for the first time on CD.

Devin decided to once again go solo and record this album in real Hollywood recording studios, with guests including “female drag queen”/comedian, singer, and rap artist Wendy Ho; Chris Freeman from the queer punk band Pansy Division, and Kraig Hill, who had worked extensively with Devin’s former band Shitting Glitter. In addition to “Anyone Can Break Somebody’s Heart” receiving both radio and club play in Los Angeles and beyond, the video “By My Side” is one of Devin’s personal favorites.

MIXED SIGNALS
Written and recorded as a full band, “Mixed Signals” has a rough and tumble vibe that attempted to recreate the experience of a live Traitors show. As the band began to play out more and settled into a lineup that included Devin’s brother Brandon on Bass, VJ Myles Matisse on drums, and vocalists Jarod Millsap and Liana Hernandez, Devin wrote songs specifically to be played live. While he now wishes he had enlisted some more help with production duties, having mainly engineered, recorded and mixed it all himself, it does capture that moment in time fairly accurately.

Originally released in 2014, this Halloween-oriented EP was the first release from the five-piece Traitors lineup. It was remixed and re-released as “Spectres: Eleventh Hour” in honor of it’s eleventh anniversary in 2025. Single “The Break of Dawn” had already been updated when it was included on “Recollection: 2010-2020” as had “If You Were A Ghost,” and both “Downstairs” and “I’m Still Here” were overhauled in brand new versions.

IT’S NEVER THE WAY YOU IMAGINE IT
Devin wrote and recorded his debut album in the months following his departure from Shitting Glitter, the West Hollywood based queer indie pop band he had co-founded a decade earlier. Recycling some songs that he had demoed right before joining that band, but primarily containing songs reflecting the moment, Devin worked on this album with his brother, Brandon, and long time collaborator Kraig Hill. Beginning with a few acoustic gigs, trying out the new material, he eventually assembled a band, known as the Traitors, in order to support the album with live shows.
